TUCKIN' TORANA

Mick brought in his LX Torana tucking a big old wide set of custom 17" wheels filling those A9X flares. The issue; interference between the tire and the inner fender on full lock at ride height. A common problem when running a wider and custom offset wheel with the A9X kit, making it even more difficult was the freshly painted body and underbody. Cutting out and modifying as little as we could was the challenge, we had interior kick panels, a throttle pedal not to mention the stainless brake hardline to think about, while trying to keep it looking as factory as possible.

We had 4 layers of steel meeting up in this area, interior floor, firewall, lower inner fender and rocker extensions. The best way to achieve the clearance was to box the area back to the door pillar and up to the top of the inner fender. Photo above shows drivers side, passenger side was copied for symmetry.

Photos above show passenger and drivers side welded up and blended in, then primed and seam sealed. Finally we underbody coated the repair sections then 2k matched the paint.
