We fit our 63-72 Fuel Tank to one of our customers 66 Chev Shortbed C10 Truck. This tank is an EFI tank and Bed-fill option. We will show you step-by-step how to fit one of these tanks in your truck. The Fuel level sender and Fuel Pump housing is already installed in this tank (as this is how we send them out). Your fuel pumps will need to be installed in the housing and wired up before you start installation.

REMOVING SPARE TIRE CROSS BRACE

First Step is to remove the spare tire cross brace, you will need to remove the factory rivets either by grinding the head off and punching the rivet through or using an air chisel.

TEST FIT

With the cross brace removed, we can test fit the tank. Lift the tank in place with a jack, you should have sufficient clearence around the tank so it doesnt intefere with the chassis rails or any cross-braces.

MARKING OUT HOLES

With the tank in place, up against the bottom of the frame rails, mark out your tank bracket holes, these holes are 13mm. Also mark out the filler hole from under the bed. We used a permanent marker running along the inside of the 2" filler hole, find centre and drill a pilot hole from underneath. We can then drill out our filler hole ontop of the timber, we used a 50mm hole-saw to accept our lockable bed fill cap.

WIRING

Before the tank gets installed for the last time you will need to run a wire from "TERMINAL G" on the sender unit to the chassis ground and also a wire from "TERMINAL S" on the sender unit to the fuel gauge terminal on your fuse box under the dash. The sender unit will work with a factory fuel gauge or any aftermarket 90-0ohm gauge.

FINAL FITMENT

Once wiring is done, the tank can be fitted for the last time. Nut plates are supplied with M12 Bolts and washers. The nut plates have double-sided tape to keep them in place on the chassis rail.

Bed Fill Cap (sold seperately)

Our Bed Fill cap screws into the timber and connects to the tank via a rubber hose. These caps are lockable and are finished in chrome.
